Gateway 700x PC800-45 vs PC800-40
Question:

I have a Gateway 700 X with two 256 RAM sticks and two open slots. What options do I have to expand RAM? Can I add two 512 MB sticks to the open slots or will all sticks need to be the same? What is the difference in the 45 and 40 RDRAM sticks?
Answer:

All of our  PC800-40 RDRAM is compatible with the 700x.
You can add any sized pair to the two open slots in your computer with no problems.

The 40 / 45 represent the latency of the memory measured in
nanoseconds. In other words, the lower the number - the faster the
memory. The 700x requires PC800-40 memory.

This memory is guaranteed compatible and can be returned for any reason.
